Google Warns of Upcoming Exact Match Domain Algorithm Change


Matt Cutts is the head of webspam for google. He announced a small upcoming algorithm change which is meant to reduce the amount of low quality exact match domains in search results. Exact match domains contain keywords that exactly match the search query.

Cutts also tweeted, “New exact-match domain (EMD) algo affects 0.6% of English-US queries to a noticeable degree. Unrelated to Panda/Penguin.”

Olympics Fuel Mobile Search Surge on Google

Smartphone searches for information regarding the Olympics have passed those that are made on tablets and PCs, according to data recently released by Google.

The search engine released the data on their blog, explaining that Olympic related searches had dramatically increased in the first week of the games.

For example in the UK 46 percent of all Olympic searches where made on smartphones and tablets.
